“Understand that you have given me Narnia forever…”
I am Jadis, descendant of royalty, ruler of empires and queen over all. I, I survived beyond all my forefathers and all my contemporaries; and not simply survived but flourished. I carry a power within my person older than the world of Narnia and stronger than the magic that created it. I have traversed between worlds; I have watched old worlds die and new ones born, and I have witnessed the likes of which none save myself can claim.
In MY world, my old world, I was a queen and sorceress. My family had ruled for centuries, proud and strong- cruel, some might say. But what of this? We were far superior to our lowly subjects, they mere dogs at our feet. Yes, they should have reveled in the eminence of our persons. They cowered, a just response and worthy of our magnificence, and it was right.
Then the Deplorable Word was spoken and destroyed us. It was a decision I do not regret, for although the others were struck down, I prevailed. When I was awoken the sun had faded, nearly died. Any other would have perished then, been washed away within the dousing of that orb. But I am Jadis, and I arose triumphant. I fled then, to another world of noise and fury, one I was sure to have conquered had I not been withdrawn, and finally was conveyed to the darkness that would become my new realm. True, I was drawn through these universes with children, insignificant and common, but it was I, Jadis, who forced this land of Narnia to its knees. And I who am Queen.
This is wonderfully written. 🙂
